Apr\u00e8s pr\u00e8s de quatre ans de lutte acharn\u00e9e, notre cher et respect\u00e9 coll\u00e8gue Pierre Pluye nous a quitt\u00e9s par une chaude apr\u00e8s-midi au c\u0153ur de l’\u00e9t\u00e9. Et il nous a quitt\u00e9s comme il avait v\u00e9cu : avec discr\u00e9tion, s\u00e9r\u00e9nit\u00e9, dignit\u00e9, en compagnie de son \u00e9pouse, de ses enfants et de son fr\u00e8re.
Pierre est n\u00e9 dans le sud-ouest de la France. Apr\u00e8s des \u00e9tudes de m\u00e9decine, il a travaill\u00e9 pour M\u00e9decins du Monde. Je l’ai rencontr\u00e9 pour la premi\u00e8re fois en 1994 \u00e0 l’Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al, alors que je commen\u00e7ais mon programme de doctorat en sant\u00e9 publique \u00e0 l’Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al et qu’il s’\u00e9tait inscrit \u00e0 la ma\u00eetrise en sant\u00e9 communautaire. Il m’a expliqu\u00e9 pourquoi il \u00e9tait venu \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al : il voulait am\u00e9liorer ses connaissances et ses comp\u00e9tences pour mieux accomplir son travail humanitaire. Son id\u00e9e \u00e9tait de retourner sur le terrain apr\u00e8s avoir obtenu son dipl\u00f4me. Il ne l’a jamais fait. La rencontre avec Lucie, le Dr Lucie Nadeau, a boulevers\u00e9 sa vie et tous ses projets… Je n’\u00e9tais pas \u00e0 cette f\u00eate en 1995, mais des amis communs qui y \u00e9taient m’ont dit que lorsque Pierre est entr\u00e9 dans la pi\u00e8ce, ils ont imm\u00e9diatement senti que le monde autour de ces deux-l\u00e0 avait litt\u00e9ralement \u00ab disparu \u00bb.<\/p>\n

Pierre a termin\u00e9 sa ma\u00eetrise en 1996. Il s’est ensuite inscrit \u00e0 un doctorat en sant\u00e9 publique, promotion de la sant\u00e9, qu’il a obtenu. Il est arriv\u00e9 \u00e0 McGill en 2003 pour effectuer un stage postdoctoral au D\u00e9partement d’\u00e9tudes sociales en m\u00e9decine, sous la direction du professeur Alberto Cambrosio. En 2005, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 nomm\u00e9 professeur adjoint (tenure stream) dans notre d\u00e9partement de m\u00e9decine familiale, et le reste, comme on dit, c’est de l’histoire, de l’histoire du d\u00e9partement.
Membre fondateur des programmes d’\u00e9tudes sup\u00e9rieures en m\u00e9decine familiale, membre fondateur du Groupe de recherche sur l’\u00e9ducation en m\u00e9decine familiale de McGill (FMER), chercheur de renomm\u00e9e internationale dans le domaine des m\u00e9thodes mixtes, enseignant d\u00e9vou\u00e9 et reconnu pour son excellence en tant que superviseur d’\u00e9tudiants dipl\u00f4m\u00e9s, … Il est impossible de r\u00e9sumer en quelques mots l’\u00e9norme contribution de Pierre \u00e0 l’\u00e9rudition en m\u00e9decine familiale. J’ajouterais seulement que la qualit\u00e9 des relations qu’il a \u00e9tablies avec ses coll\u00e8gues tout au long de sa carri\u00e8re est superbement illustr\u00e9e par sa longue et fructueuse relation professionnelle avec Roland Grad, lui aussi membre fondateur de la FMER. Ce duo a initi\u00e9 un programme de recherche avant m\u00eame que Pierre n’obtienne son doctorat, et a continu\u00e9 \u00e0 travailler ensemble presque jusqu’\u00e0 la fin.<\/p>\n

Pierre Pluye nous manquera terriblement. En son nom, le Prix international de recherche sur l’\u00e9ducation en m\u00e9decine familiale contribue \u00e0 la reconnaissance et \u00e0 l’admiration que nous avons pour lui et pour son \u0153uvre exceptionnelle. Le doux souvenir de son humanit\u00e9 restera \u00e0 jamais dans nos c\u0153urs.<\/p>\n
