Our Canadian Research Chairs

The Canada Research Chair is a highly competitive program created by the Government of Canada in 2000 to promote excellence in research and development in higher education institutions in the country. It is governed by the Tri-agency Institutional Programs Secretariat (TIPS), housed in the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). More than $ 300 M are dedicated to the program annually.

Two types of Canada Research Chair exist: Tier 1 Chairs for Full Professors, tenable for seven years and renewable once; and Tier 2 Chairs for outstanding new investigators, tenable for fiver years and equally renewable once.

The FMER is proud to count among its regular members with three Canada Research Chairs Tier 2 holders! We invite you to watch the videos below to know more about what the Chairs of these exceptional researchers are about.
