Advancing Methodology: FMER Hosts Workshop on Mixed Studies Reviews
On August 18, 2025, the Department of Family Medicine hosted a workshop titled How to Plan, Conduct, and Report Mixed Studies Reviews. The event featured keynote speaker Quan Nha Hong, PhD, assistant professor at the Université de Montréal’s School of Rehabilitation and researcher at CRIR.
Mixed studies reviews are becoming increasingly important in health research for their ability to integrate qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods studies. Dr. Hong provided practical guidance on conceptual foundations, quality appraisal, and strategies for integrating diverse forms of evidence.
The workshop welcomed 13 participants for more than five hours of interactive learning and discussion. Feedback was highly positive, with participants sharing their enthusiasm during the breaks and at the close of the session. Evaluations confirmed the workshop as an excellent and valuable experience.
This successful event reflects FMER’s commitment to advancing methodological expertise in primary care and health research.

Quan Nha Hong is an assistant professor at the School of Rehabilitation of the Université de Montréal and a researcher at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Rehabilitation of Greater Montreal (CRIR).
