A FELLOWSHIP TO REWARD AND PROMOTE EXCELLENCE IN MEDICAL EDUCATION
Goal of the Fellowship
This Fellowship has been created to “further and promote excellence in medical education by either an advanced postgraduate trainee or a faculty member in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at McGill University.” More specifically, this Fellowship can be used as a salary award in support of professional development activities related to medical education and/or to provide financial support of research activities. Examples of such activities include: curriculum design, innovations in inter-professional education, research in medical education, or advanced training in medical education.
Please note that this is not a teaching award or travel bursary. The Fellowship is designed to reward and promote excellence in medical education.
The value of this award is $7,500 and can be awarded to a maximum of two (2) recipients per academic year.
Deadline for Applications
The deadline for applications is January 17, 2025, for funds to be awarded in March/April 2025.Application Process
To apply, please submit:
(1) A copy of your CV
(2) A one-page description of your achievements and future plans in medical education
(3) A one-page description of your proposed project and anticipated outcomes
(4) An outline of your proposed budget, including a budget justification
(5) A letter of reference from the director of your school or department or the unit head/divisional chair supporting your proposed project.
The application should be single-spaced with a standard 2cm margin and in a standard 12-point font.
The selection criteria for this award include:
- An innovative stand-alone project that will help to move the field forward
- A clear and appropriate plan for using the funds
- Previous achievements in health sciences education or health professions education and/or evidence of a demonstrated commitment to HSE or HPE
At the end of the year, you will be expected to provide a one-page summary of your accomplishments during your Fellowship year. You will also be expected to acknowledge the Fellowship in any report and/or publication. You will also be invited to present your proposal at a regular meeting of the IHSE.
