Keith Todd Awarded Meakins Memorial Fellowship

Overview:

Dr. Keith Todd, Assistant Professor at the Herzl Family Medicine clinic and researcher at the McGill Family Medicine Education Research (FMER) Group, has been awarded the Meakins Memorial Fellowship from McGill University’s Institute of Health Sciences Education (IHSE), a distinction that recognizes excellence and leadership in medical education.

The Meakins Memorial Fellowship is designed to support and promote impactful work in medical education, including curriculum innovation, research, and advanced training. The award provides funding to faculty members and advanced trainees who demonstrate strong past achievements, ongoing contributions, and the potential to advance the field meaningfully.

Dr. Todd will use the fellowship to further develop the family medicine residency curriculum, with a specific focus on engaging community members to ensure training aligns with the needs of the patients and populations served. This work reflects a growing emphasis on community-informed education and integrating lived experience into curriculum design.

In parallel, the fellowship will support the development of new and innovative approaches to care delivery. This work is being carried out in collaboration with the Family Medicine Education Research (FMER) team and Dr. Neil Andersson, Professor of Family Medicine, director of CIET and Participatory Research at McGill (PRAM), and co-director of the McGill Institute of Human Development and Well-being, strengthening ongoing efforts to connect education, research, and practice.

Dr. Todd’s award highlights both his contributions to medical education and the importance of continued investment in innovation within family medicine training.
