New Course: FMED 527 – Inuit Health in the Circumpolar World
We are pleased to announce a new graduate-level course offered through the Department of Family Medicine: FMED 527 – Inuit Health in the Circumpolar World.
This course provides an overview of Inuit health across the circumpolar regions, exploring:

Inuit history, presence, and lifeways in Inuit Nunaat (Greenland, Canada, Alaska, Chukotka)

Health prior to European contact and the impacts of colonialism

Infectious disease transmission and its lasting effects

Development of healthcare systems, including medical transportation

Inuit-led health innovations such as midwifery (Nunavik) and community health aide/practitioner programs (Alaska)
