Description Teaching Shared Decision Making (SDM) to residents involves introducing key concepts and curricular approaches, applying assessment tools to evaluate competence through observation and peer discussion, and developing strategies to integrate and sustain these tools in clinical teaching. This workshop will help physician educators improve their teaching of SDM as well as improve how they evaluate resident competence for SDM.
Learning Objectives 1. Describe key concepts and curricular approaches for teaching Shared Decision Making (SDM) to residents.
2. Apply an assessment tool to evaluate resident competence in SDM through observation and peer discussion.
3. Develop strategies for integrating and sustaining the use of an assessment tool in clinical teaching.
